The Baby runs. On 21 June the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine executes the world’s first stored-program computer program. Alan Turing arrives to work on its successor and is living in Wilmslow when he is prosecuted in 1952. A replica is at the Science and Industry Museum.
